I feel privileged to be an employee director at Success (North East) and truly believe in the Success business ethos. I am extremely passionate about community development and love coming to work each day knowing the company is making a difference to the lives of children, young people, families and communities. I grew up and have lived in Spennymoor most of my life. I currently live in Tudhoe with my 18 year old daughter Demi, who has inspired and continues to inspire much of the work I do.
I have over 20 years’ experience working with children, young people, families and communities. I have worked in the public sector and voluntary and community sector in a variety of roles which include: Parent Support Advisor, Dad’s Development Worker, Sure Start Family Worker, Playgroup Leader and Nanny in the USA. In a voluntary capacity I have worked in school classrooms, assisted at a range of events and set up a parent and toddler group. I currently volunteer as a community governor at North Park Primary School and as a board member for Spennymoor Area Action Partnership.

I joined the team at Success in April 2016. Since joining I have worked alongside Wendy and Kerryann to deliver some amazing projects out in the community and in school settings.
Seeing how beneficial the work is and the impact it has on children, young people and their families gives me drive and passion for the role.
My previous role was senior practitioner in a private nursery. I have worked in a school setting for a number of years in various roles and I am level 3 teaching assistant qualified.
I have lived in Spennymoor all of my life, I am married with 2 grown up children who both attended schools in Spennymoor.

I have been a project worker with Success (North East) since its formation in 2012 and prior to that, I worked as Extended Services Assistant with Wendy for Spennymoor Extended Services since 2009.
The community is at the heart of everything that we do and I am passionate about my job and the positive impact it has on children, young people and their families through exciting and innovative projects.
Although I originally come from an admin background, through professional development I am now a level 3 youth worker and Basic Expedition Leader and I love working directly with young people.
I am currently working in the final year of a Foundation Degree in Education and Care part time with the University of Sunderland; I never imagined I would study at this level and I surprised myself when I signed up to start my BA Hon in Education and Curriculum starting September 2017. I'm certainly feeling the fear and doing it anyway!
My hobbies include walking and camping with my 3 children and our friends and taking part in challenges and adventures.
