Mermaid Tales

DurhamGate and Success teamed up again this year to offer schools in Spennymoor the opportunity to attend a fantastic event. Mermaid Tales and Treasure Trails took children on a fantastic adventure in aid of The Butterwick Hospice

The adventure started on the 18th and 19th June…

Captain Raggy Beard was looking for some school children to join him on his treasure trail and help save Melissa the Mermaid who has found herself washed up in Spennymoor! Children were picked up from their school (dressed as pirates, mermaids or in sea themed attire) by Harriet the special red bus. Captain Raggy Beard offered each child a special bus ticket that allowed them entry to the treasure trail at DurhamGate. Along the trail children worked out clues, took part in activities, found some treasure and helped Captain Raggy Beard’s Ship set sail to return Mellissa back to sea!

The adventure continued on the 20th June…

Captain Raggy Beard was so happy with all the children’s hard work and for saving Mellissa the Mermaid that he is threw a big community party to celebrate. Punch and Judy, a helter skelter, shuggy boats, fun house, tea cups, food stalls and plenty of deck chairs all ensured fun for all the family!
